NEW YORK (AP) — Michael Chiarello, a chef known for his Italian-inspired Californian restaurants who won an Emmy Award for best host for “Easy Entertaining With Michael Chiarello" and appeared on Bravo’s “Top Chef” and “Top Chef Masters,” has died. Chiarello died Friday at Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa due to an allergic reaction that resulted in anaphylactic shock, according to Chiarello’s restaurant group Gruppo Chiarello. He also owned the Chiarello Family Vineyards in Yountville, California. JPMorgan Chase is giving 2 new recruits a $30,000 annual allowance to dine at restaurants. They will work for its restaurant review platform The Infatuation in New York and London. The positions come with a $30,000 "annual restaurant budget", according to job ads posted on Tuesday. The job description for the New York role says: "This position is an editing job and also very much an eating job - you'll get a $30,000 annual restaurant budget for dining out. The staff writer in London will get to dine out at restaurants multiple times per week, according to the ad.

Tripadvisor Inc. has hired John Boris as its first chief marketing officer in more than four years as the online travel company hopes to serve consumers who are willing to pay more to book flights and hotels. Mr. Boris had been chief growth officer at Australian blockchain gaming startup Immutable Pty. NBC's is acquiring LX.TV, a producer of local entertainment programming for TV and the web. NBC U says LX.TV will form the basis of a new unit called NBC Local Media that will produce cultural and lifestyle programming for local TV stations and web sites around the country. LX.TV started out as Code Networks, an indie producer of broadband content for wealthy urbanites. A local real estate show, OpenHouseNYC began airing on New York's WNBC in January 2007. Varet and Hertzan will remain with the company and report to Phyllis Schwartz, EVP, news, promotion and original content for NBC Local Media.
